FAQ FROM OUR INSTAGRAM LIVE STREAM
Hey Au Pairs,
Firstly, WE’RE BACK TOGETHER. Woohoo. We’ve been waiting six months to be reunited and it finally happened. We met in Oslo and are enjoying a couple of weeks in Norway (wow is it expensive but incredibly beautiful.)
Secondly, as we’re back together, we decided now would be a good time to film more YouTube videos but also to start live streaming on Instagram together.
Thank you so much to all of you who have joined in and asked questions so far! We have a lot of fun and can be lot less filtered than we usually are on YouTube. Join us over there every single day this week!
A couple questions which cropped up in the last few live streams were interesting and we thought we’d go ahead and answer them more fully on the blog. So, here goes:
Are you STILL au pairs?
As much as we loved being au pairs, our time did have to come to an end. We are no longer au pairs and may never be again (although we’re totally not against it.)
Au Pair, Oh Paris was formed as we realised just how little support we’d both had as au pairs. Think of us as au pair consultants! ;)
What are you both doing now?
Edwina is moving back to Paris in two weeks (after our time in Norway is up) to spend a year teaching English to French students. This girl can’t get enough French.
Meanwhile, I am working as a freelance journalist for a Germany-based company. I started this job when I was an au pair in Berlin and haven’t looked back.
What languages do you speak?
The official language of Au Pair, Oh Paris is English. So, we’ll usually always reply in this language.
Edwina speaks beautiful French and is always looking to practice with locals while in Paris. Meanwhile, I learnt French in school and haven’t spoken it much at all since I was an au pair.
Between us, we also speak some German and Spanish. We’re pretty international… lol.
Places to visit in Paris
Check out our APOP Bucket List! This is the fruit of hundreds of hours of work putting together a check list of places to visit.
It also comes with downloadable maps which you can then have on your phone. If you’re spending a day alone in Paris, it could be a life-saver.
We haven’t given too much detail about any of the stops so that they’re enjoyable gems when you arrive!
Do you Prefer Slow or Fast Travel?
Loved this question. We’ve been discussing in more in depth since we were asked it on Instagram.
Essentially, we feel that when we had just left home and became au pairs, we were desperate to see and do EVERYTHING.
But, since we’ve seen a little of a lot of countries, we’re now focusing on seeing a lot of just one country at a time.
Deciding on which style of travel is best for you means taking into account:
how much money you have to spend
who you’re going with
which countries you’ve always been dying to go to
the types of activities you like doing
whether you’ll be back in that part of the world anytime soon!
Please join us on Instagram live streams this week! We haven’t got a fixed time as to when we’ll do one but put out advance warning on the day.
That’s all for now!
Ciao xo
