Top 5 YouTube Channels For Learning French
Hey Au Pairs!
One of the best ways to continue developing your French skills is through watching YouTube videos! There are a plethora of channels dedicated to helping foreigners learn the French language and ever since I’ve started learning French I’ve been hooked to these channels. They’ve helped me learn more about the French language and cultures in a more informal and casual avenue.
In no specific order here are five YouTube channels for learning French:
1.Easy French
If you’re looking for an informal approach to learning more about French language and culture look no further! Easy French is a channel dedicated to helping foreigners learn to develop their French skills by interviewing French people in the streets of France.
I love this channel because they interview people on different topics. The people they interview come from all walks of life and different backgrounds which allows the viewer the opportunity to listen to an array of accents from all around France! In addition to interviewing people from around France about different topics they also make videos on different aspects of French grammar and pronunciation that are explained in a simple and easy to comprehend manner.
2.InnerFrench
InnerFrench is a channel run by a French man who speaks on different facets of French culture and grammar. His videos are one hundred percent in French which allows the viewer to fully immerse themselves in the French language. What I love about his videos are that he’s a native French speaker who doesn’t speak EXTREMELY fast as other French people I’ve met. His natural speaking pace is slower than usual for most French speakers which allows his beginner French level viewers to understand him easier.
Some of his most popular videos touch on how to sound more like a native speaker when learning the French language and helpful tips and tricks to learning French! Additionally, he also creates videos on different topics discussing French cliches and culture.
3.Paul Taylor
If you’re learning French you’ve probably come across Paul Taylor at some point online! Paul Taylor is a British comedian who’s made a name for himself from sharing his experiences of living in France as a British expat.
On his YouTube channel, you’ll find many of his standup routines featuring him speaking in French about the crazy situations and antics he has gotten into as a foreigner abroad. He also discusses French culture with the viewer in a more comedic and relatable fashion. He has gotten so popular in France for his comedy that he’s gotten his own series on French television! He’s also toured as a standup comedian around France, other European countries and has even gone as far as Canada to perform!
4.Not Even French
Another channel that features a foreigner's perspective to living abroad in France is Not Even French! Rosie, the creator of this channel is a New Zealand native living in France. Through this channel she shares her experiences of living in France with her viewers and compares her life in New Zealand to her life in France. Additionally, she teaches her viewers tips and tricks to learning French as a foreigner and how to navigate moving to France!
5.Piece of French
Piece of French features Elsa, a French native who dedicates her videos to helping foreigners learn the French language in a fun and creative manner. In her videos, she takes the viewer through her everyday life through video blogs completely in French. She also shares her strategies for developing French language skills and touches on different parts of French culture and language.
